For this project, the customer wanted to build a fence on their boundary line instead of the hedge they had they also wanted it to match their existing fence.
Their property was a raised section of land, so it required me to build their fence on top of a retaining wall.
I started by removing the old hedge and the trees which were encroaching over the boundary, giving me a blank canvas to start work with.
I marked out the new fence location and started digging out post holes. As you can see from the pictures, I alternated the fence and retaining wall posts as I can use the fence post as a retaining post. I also needed to match their existing fence style, so to make this work with the spacing between each panel I needed to cut every other post down to the retaining wall height.
After that was done, I concreted in the posts and then worked on the retaining wall section, which was fairly straight forward. There was a drain located on the outside of their property which worked well with the drainage system that I lay down behind the retaining wall as rain water could be channeled away from there new fence and into the storm water drain.
After the retaining wall was complete, it was onto building the fence. The only thing out of the ordinary was the sections around the retaining wall posts that needed to be cut around to give it a nice clean look.
After installing fence capping it was onto painting and sewing new grass seed on their lawn where work had been done. I was very happy with how this project turned out, and the homeowner was also very pleased.
